Interest in Irish Language Courses has risen

Level 8 CAO courses which involve a significant Irish language component have risen in popularity this year. 

Employment prospects have improved for graduates with skills in the language since the recognition of Irish as an official working language in the European Union. 

Na Dana (Gaeilge agus Leann an Aistriuchain - Irish and Translation Studies) in NUIG has jumped 22 points this year to 330, Commerce (International) with Irish in UCC has increased by 24 points to 509. 

Business with Irish in LYIT has seen a significant increase rising 69 points from 229 to 298. 

Home economics teaching with Irish at St Angela’s is up from 419 to 430 points.
